INFORMATION

Biography
Patrick Dent is an Associate Professor and the Chair of Technology and Engineering for the USC Iovine and Young Academy. He also has a joint appointment to the USC Viterbi School of Engineering, where he previously served as the Associate Director of Technology for the Information Technology Program. He also teaches in the Design@USC program, which offers a Master of Science in Integrated Design, Business and Technology.

Prof Dent evangelizes Web development technologies to students of all backgrounds, from business to computer science to music, trying to increase the skills of all students. He takes an inter-disciplinary approach to all his academic teaching. And he believes a thorough technical knowledge is useful to far more than just developers, but also to the project managers, creative types, and clients they work with.

Prof Dent has taught New Media, Web development and database and programming courses at the University of Southern California since 1998.

He came to USC and teaching after working in graphic and web design, programming, and as a newspaper reporter and magazine writer.
