Skills Explored Target Audience
Understand how to work with data, implement technology infrastructure to stage data, apply techniques to analyze data, explore and utilize tools to visualize data, utilize systems to publish and share the results, forecast business metrics, describe and predict customer behavior
This minor will complement many majors such as Business, Communication, Marketing, Accounting, Engineering, social and biological sciences, and others.
Minor Description
With the explosion of digital data, analytics has emerged as a key skill companies are seeking in their employees. Reports are indicating that there is a looming shortage of data analysts in the work force. The Minor in Applied Analytics prepares undergraduate students in the field of data analytics as applied to real world situations. Applications vary from business to health care, social media to sports. The goal is to educate students to become data analysts, not data scientists. Students in the minor will learn all aspects of analytics: technology infrastructure to stage data, techniques to analyze data, tools to visualize data, and systems to publish and share the results.
