HTML, DHTML, Flash, Javascript, layers, CSS, XML, databases, mySQL, Java, Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop, PHP, Ruby on Rails, jQuery, AJAX, Web Services, and Web Frameworks BUAD, COMM, JOUR and any other students interested in learning about web development and design.
Minor Description
Become a web guru. While web technologies have become a staple of everyday life, most people still don't understand how they work or how to design them. This minor combines the theoretical concepts with the practical skills you'll need to design, develop and apply major web technologies and advancements. You'll learn how to build web databases, create interactive user interfaces, design e-commerce applications, and more. If you're thinking about a career as web developer or designer, or if you'd like these valuable technical skills to enhance another career pursuit, this minor is for you.
Why Students Take It
To learn how to build interactive, effective web sites. By the end of their course of study, students know how to build web sites, hook up databases behind the sites, program dynamic web pages to interact with users, script original functionality, and integrate existing technologies and apps. They learn real industry theory and techniques to prepare them to enter the web industry or to work in the web sphere within another area.
